At DAFA, we are dedicated to providing accurate and reliable data about our products to ensure that we can make the best possible decisions for a sustainable future. In 2024, we have placed special emphasis on improving our data collection and analysis, particularly within Scope 3 – the category for purchasing goods and services, as this area represents our largest CO2 emissions.

Focus on Scope 3 emissions
To navigate and ensure that we can make the right decisions moving forward based on valid data, it is essential to work with emissions and related data. Therefore, in 2024, DAFA has increased its focus on optimizing data collection for Scope 3 emissions, which covers the purchasing of materials. This initiative is driven by the recognition that our largest emissions come from the materials we purchase.

Interns as a driving force
Recently, we worked with a group of interns over a four-week period who helped us transition our data from spend-based to activity-based calculations for all the materials we purchase. The interns developed models and structures and identified challenges we can work on to future-proof our data management. This work is an important step in our efforts to deliver quality data to our customers.

By focusing on precise and valid data, we can not only optimize our own production and reduce our environmental impact, but also provide our customers with detailed information about the environmental footprint of our products. This transparency is part of our commitment to taking responsibility for our actions and contributing to a more sustainable future.
